Contest Overview
The Global Engagement Office invites students in the School of Education to submit photos for their first ever Cross-Cultural Moments Photo Contest! Participants are able to submit up to two photos that capture a cross-cultural moment. For this photo contest, we are defining cross-cultural moment as a moment showcasing aspects of your own cultural perspective or interacting with a cultural environment different from your own. Examples of this can include the following:
- Photos taken during your study abroad experience
- Photos taken during an international travel experience
- Photos taken in your home country if you are an international student
- Photos taken in the United States that show your unique cultural perspective (for domestic students) or a cross-cultural experience (for international students).

Submission Guidelines
Contest Process
- Submit your photo(s) (up to 2) via this Google Form by November 11, 2020 by 5:00 p.m. CST.
- Vote via the voting link shared by the Global Engagement Office.
- Win! E-gift cards will be issued to the 3 individuals with the most votes.
Eligibility
Any UW School of Education student is invited to participate including undergrads and grad students.

Photos must be:
- Taken by you (the person submitting the photo)
- Not digitally altered beyond basic color corrections
- In color (no black & white or sepia)
- The original digital file
- Submitted as a .jpeg or .png file types
Ethical Considerations
Please review the following ethical considerations when submitting your photos.
- Entries will be disqualified if they suggest inappropriate behavior, disrespect toward local cultures, or anything that goes against the UW-Madison Code of Conduct and Community Standards.
- UW-Madison IAP encourages students to be respectful and culturally appropriate when taking photos of people. IAP recommends looking over the following two resources for extra considerations:
Timeline
November 2-11: Call for photo submissions
November 12-18: Voting is open
November 19: Winners announced
Judging
The GEO will compile the submitted photos into a voting format and disseminate the link, calling for individuals across the School of Education and UW-Madison community to vote. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place photos will be determined based on the total number of votes each photo receives between November 12-18, 2020. Winners will be announced on November 19, 2020.
